Zero Gravity Capital is a venture capital fund fuelling early-stage innovations in Slovakia.
It is a joint platform of the venture builder 0100 Ventures (which operates multinational co-working spaces, organizes international start-up & venture capital conferences, and runs a number of start-up communities, media, and other businesses) and investment company Limerock Advisory (serving and advising clients in the areas of private equity financing, mergers & acquisitions, investments, and related fields).
Zero Gravity Capital is backed by experienced private investors and a strong international team from Slovakia, Israel, Norway, and the Czech Republic (with backgrounds such as Intel Capital, investment banking, and strategic consulting), as well as by government and publicly-owned institutions such as the European Investment Bank, Slovak Investment Holding, and the National Development Fund.
In total, €66m in investment capital has been provided by the Slovak National Development Fund as co-investments to Slovak private venture capital investors.
They have entrusted the allocation of investment capital to three private equity/venture capital funds, including Zero Gravity Capital.
“Over the next three years, Zero Gravity Capital plans to allocate its own equity and European Investment Bank capital to dynamic start-ups which are less than five years old,” says Marek Zámečník, co-founder and partner of 0100 Ventures and Zero Gravity Capital.
“We are primarily targeting innovative technology-backed companies operating from Slovakia with unique products, international growth potential, and strong founding teams.”
Zero Gravity Capital goes way beyond the role of just a traditional investor.
They pride themselves on being an all-in-one adviser for start-ups and subsidiaries establishing a business in Slovakia.
They understand that it’s not easy for new or international companies to figure out all the ins-and-outs of setting up and growing a young organization, especially if Slovak is not your first language.
That’s why Zero Gravity Capital takes an active hands-on approach that leverages their entrepreneurial, legal, and financial expertise, alongside a robustly ethical approach to business.
Zero Gravity Capital has a thorough understanding of EU regulations and legislation, as well as deep knowledge of current business trends and practices in Slovakia and across Europe.
Whether you require legal, operational, financial, cultural, or business advice, Zero Gravity Capital can connect you with the leading experts in these fields.
Through its 0100 Ventures ecosystem, companies also have the opportunity to tap into a broad range of business advantages including access to co-working office spaces, transaction advisory services, a network of experts and business professionals, software development resources, and key European venture capital and start-up conferences to connect you with investors and to maximize the future value of your business.
As a sophisticated hub in the heart of Central Europe, Slovakia is very well-positioned between Western and Eastern European countries. It is a long-standing member of the European Union, and follows standard EU regulations and jurisdiction.
“Slovakia offers a lot of untapped talent within high-quality technical and R&D employees due to the good local education system and universities with long tradition, still more affordable than Western Europe but providing Western European standard of living, modern culture and excellent infrastructure and transport network,” says Roy Ramon, experienced Israeli venture capital investor and director of Zero Gravity Capital.
According to a recent report by global digital services platform Pentalog, Slovakia is #1 in the European Countries IT Ranking when it comes to finding the best developers.
Let’s not forget about location. Slovakia’s capital, Bratislava, is a mere 45 minutes away from Vienna, with Budapest and Prague just a short drive or flight away. There are 8 airports across Slovakia, with larger international airports in Bratislava and Košice servicing numerous destinations around Europe. In addition, Vienna’s international airport is located close to the Slovak border, making Slovakia an attractively accessible location for start-ups or investors.
Given its border location and modern education system, a high number of Slovaks are multilingual. English is well known and used by many students and business professionals at work and in day-to-day life. German and Czech are also widely understood, as is Hungarian in some parts of the country.
In business, location, technology, education, culture, and spectacular growth potential, Slovakia is far and away the ideal choice for investors and start-ups.
