Slovak Startup Show Marek Mihok

After graduating from the distinguished New York University in Abu Dhabi, Marek joined KPMG Slovakia in 2015 as an Analyst at Valuation services team. During his studies, he co-founded a startup and gathered experience from incubators and conferences in New York, Abu Dhabi, and Berlin.

As part of KPMG Slovakia, Marek was involved in preparing financial models and pitch-decks for many startups and has been active in many startup events as mentor, participant and winner as well. He worked mostly on M&A transactions and deals.

In our discussion, we cover such topics as

  • why he decided to study a very uncommon combination of business and visual arts,
  • what he enjoyed about the New York Unversity in Abu Dhabi,
  • what he learnt from his first startup project,
  • how he became startup mentor and what fascinates him about the startup world,
  • what are the most common pitch deck mistakes,
  • what investors expect from you when you approach them,

and much more.

Enjoy and give us feedback so we can improve with every new piece, thanks!
